What We Do
We introduce young students to art history in fun, interactive ways — helping them meet and enjoy great artists through hands-on projects that engage their artistic and creative minds.
This exciting and personalized 5-week program is offered virtually or in person. We explore five important artists, using customized projects to learn more about the artists, their lives, their times, and why they matter today.
The in-person programs culminate with a guided tour of the Metropolitan Museum of Art (parents are welcome to join), where we meet our new artist friends “in-person” and see many of the works we have already learned about.
How It Works
Setting up the course
We connect with elementary schools and after-school programs to arrange the “course.”
Each course can accommodate up to 10 students.
2 weeks before our session begins, we send all supplies needed — at no charge to the students or the schools.
Virtual Programs: We provide a Zoom link that is good for all sessions
In-Person Programs: For local (NYC) schools, we can conduct the sessions at your school, if desired
Each weekly session
The interactive sessions are built to keep the students engaged — especially in virtual settings — and are centered around a hands-on art project each student creates.
Each session runs 60 minutes and includes:
Saying hello (5 mins)
Introduce the artist (10 mins)
Discussion about the artist (5 mins)
Introduce the project (5 mins)
Students complete the project (25 mins)
Students show their projects & wrap-up (10 mins)
In-Person Programs (NYC): After the course is complete, we arrange a guided tour of the Met (Parents are welcome) to meet our new art history friends.
